Back-Rooms: an inspiration for Project 4811
It seems this thing is growing. I don't even really understand what it is. But it seems to resonate with others plagued with either haunted memory, habitual de ja Vue, or rampant synchronicity consciousness, and those simply curious on the strangest of lost media and internet enigmas. A line might be drawn from Silent Hill and Metal Gear, then to other newer games such as Control, a game which by itself borrows from the creepier elements of the X-Files and Twin Peaks, and the metaphysical aspects of X-Men and Stranger Things, all of which seem relevant to internet-only phenomenon such as Slender Man, Siren Head, and now the entire infinity mythology that is the SCP Foundation. Some other phenomenon appear related but might only be zeigeist for the others existence. These include the "Back Rooms', Cicada 3301, the proposed Jejune Institute (SRI circa Cold War, essentially) from Beyond The Black Rainbow, and aspects of both geocaching and ARGs and related evidence.
